Our primary focus is always what you’re putting on your skin and breathing in through candle scents. That said, we also believe in packaging that feels beautiful, intentional, and pampering. As we continue to improve our presentation, costs can add up—your $5 helps keep the shine going while maintaining integrity. 

$10 — Supports Sustainable Ingredient Sourcing
Our products are not animal tested, mostly vegan and any non-vegan ingredients (such as goat milk) are ethically sourced. Your $10 donation helps us continue choosing high-quality, responsibly sourced ingredients that align with our values. 

$25 — Supports New Natural Formulations
Every formula is tested, tweaked, and re-tested to achieve the best balance of feel, effectiveness, and stability. Your $25 helps cover the cost of raw ingredients, testing tools, and premium botanicals or natural fragrances—especially when certain ingredients don’t meet our standards and can’t be used. 

$100 — Inspire a Product Created Just for You
Become the inspiration behind a future Soulberry Apothecary product. We’ll create a formulation designed around your specific skin concern using thoughtfully chosen, beneficial ingredients.
You’ll receive two FREE standard-size containers of the final product, and it may even become part of one of our collections.
Please allow up to 45 days for formulation, testing, and tracked delivery.

Why This Matters

Did you know that many everyday beauty and home fragrance products expose economically disenfranchised communities to higher levels of toxic chemicals and products are often out of reach?

• Environmental health research shows that low-income and marginalized communities often face heightened exposure to toxicants, contributing to increased rates of respiratory illness, hormone disruption, and other long-term health concerns.
• In studies of urban retail environments, lower-income neighborhoods had a significantly higher proportion of high-hazard hair products on shelves compared to wealthy neighborhoods, indicating that safer, cleaner options are less available where people with fewer economic resources shop.
• Studies indicate that up to 80% of personal care products marketed to Black women are rated moderate-to-high hazard, frequently containing hormone-disrupting ingredients like phthalates, parabens, and formaldehyde-releasing preservatives.
• Research found that 65% of products used by women of color contained chemicals linked to cancer, endocrine disruption, or developmental harm, and 74% included undisclosed/unnatural “fragrance” ingredients that can mask toxic compounds.
  
• Conventional scented candles—especially those made with paraffin wax and synthetic fragrances—can also release pollutants such as benzene, formaldehyde, and soot particles, contributing to poor indoor air quality.
• Additional Boundaries: When access does exist, public transit barriers often mean residents must spend significant time (e.g., 40+ minutes one-way) to reach stores with fuller selections, compounding economic disadvantages.

Living in the community of South LA has shown me the dire need for natural options in a sea of toxin laden beauty care & home goods. These cumulative exposures highlight how everyday choices can quietly add to a larger toxic burden over time.

We believe in the transformative power of natural skincare and non-toxic home care. While our handmade, small-batch products are often appreciated by creatives and nature-seeking souls who can prioritize quality, our goal is to also place these products into the hands of those who need them most.

As a small-batch brand, we purchase ingredients in smaller quantities and intentionally choose high-quality, mostly plant-based, cruelty-free raw materials. Large companies may produce for pennies using synthetic fillers and bulk buying—we choose to do things differently, because your health and well-being are worth it.
